Binder templates
Binder templates let you specify a default binder folder structure and add common documents that makes it easy to quickly add binders for your contacts. Use the following steps to set up and use a new binder template.
Set up a binder template
You must have appropriate security permission to create binder templates.
- In Onvio Trial Balance or Guided Assurance, choose Setup > Binder Templates and then click New Template.
Note: If you are licensed for Guided Assurance, you can enable and set up a Guided Assurance binder to link to the binder template via the Settings tab.
- Enter a name for the binder template and click the Save & Open button to open the template.
- Click the Binder tab to set up the binder template, as necessary.
- Click Close to return to the Binder Templates screen.
Use the binder template
Use one of the following procedures to select and use a binder template in your project.
Select a binder template in Onvio Center
- In Onvio Center choose Setup > Project Templates
- Click the Edit button for an existing project template.
- Modify any of the existing information for the fields and options in the screen, as they apply to your project.
- In the Document Storage section of the screen, choose Create new binder from template, and then choose the template from the list in the Binder Template field.
- Click the Save button.
Select a binder template on the fly
- In the Projects screen Add button to create a new project.
- Enter an ID and name for the project template.
- Provide information for the fields and options remaining in the screen, as they apply to your project.
- In the Document Storage section, choose Create new binder from template, and then choose the template from the list in the Binder Template field.
- Click the Save & Open button to open the project.
Import a binder template
Click Import. This will allow you to import one or multiple tax sourced binder templates at one time.
Each of the entity specific binder templates have folder structures setup to mirror the input folders in UltraTax CS.
Notes
- New binder templates that are added in Binder Templates screen are also available from the Folder Templates screen.
- Click Manage in the Binder Templates screen to rename or delete a selected binder template.
- A binder template can only be rolled forward when it is linked with Guided Assurance. If you choose to roll forward a binder template that is linked to Guided Assurance, you will need to complete the roll forward process for the newly created binder template in that application.
- A new binder template is created when you roll forward an existing binder template that is linked to Guided Assurance.
