Send a K-1 package from UltraTax CS to Onvio Client Center

Follow these steps to send a client’s K-1 package to Onvio Client Center from UltraTax CS and share it with shareholders, partners, and/or beneficiaries.

We only recommend the process below if the shareholder, partner, or beneficiary is not a 1040 client in UltraTax CS. If they are one of your clients, we recommend sending the K1 packages to Onvio Documents and sharing it to Onvio Client Center.

Print and transmit the client copy of the return in UltraTax CS

  1. With the client's return open in UltraTax CS, choose File > Print Returns.
  2. Send the client copy of the return to the Onvio Client Center by marking the Client copy checkbox, then mark Electronic delivery and click the Web option.
  3. Click the Assemble button.
  4. After the tax returns are assembled, you need to transmit them using CS Connect. Click the CS Connect button on the UltraTax CS toolbar.
  5. In the Options tab, set the Web Delivery: Transmit returns switch to Yes.
  6. Click the Web Delivery tab. Use this tab to select the clients to whom you want to transmit tax returns.
  7. Click the Connect button to transmit the tax returns.

Create shareholder relationships in Onvio

This is a one-time setup only. If you've already completed this setup you can skip to the next section.

  1. In Onvio, choose Setup > Clients and click the Edit Edit button button next to the business client ID.
  2. Click the Relationships tab, click Add and select Shareholder or Partner as the relationship.
  3. Enter the Shareholder or Partners information.

    Note: If data sharing is enabled, you can choose Select Existing Contact to populate this information from an existing Contact.

  4. Click Save and then click the Client Center Access tab.
  5. Enable Client Center Access for the Shareholder or Partnership and click Save.
  6. Repeat the previous steps for each shareholder.

Set up folders and select documents

  1. Choose Documents > Client Documents.
  2. Click the Client ID of the business client.
  3. Click the Add folder and add a new folder named K-1 Packages. You do not need to select a Template.
  4. Within the K-1 Packages folder, create sub-folders for each shareholder’s K-1 package.
  5. Navigate to the Tax Return > Client Documents folder for the selected client, mark the checkbox for the shareholders's K-1 package, and click Manage > Copy.
  6. Click the < icon for the Client Documents folder, then click the < icon for the Tax Return folder.
  7. Double-click the K-1 Packages folder, double-click the shareholder folder you created, and then click Copy.
  8. Repeat steps 5 - 7 for each shareholder with whom you want share the K-1 package.

Share the K-1 package

Follow these steps for each shareholder with whom you want to share a K-1 package.

  1. Navigate to the K-1 Packages folder and mark the checkbox for the shareholder's folder.
  2. Choose Manage > Share Folder.
  3. Choose a role for the shareholder and click Share.
