Overriding calculated fields and location overriden fields

You can override the value in any calculated field in the plan.

  • To override the value of a calculated field:Enter the new value over the current value. The amount in the overridden field will be displayed in red.
  • To remove an overriding value:Click the field and choose Delete Override or press the DELETE key. The data then changes back to the calculated value.
  • To locate all overridden fields for the current federal or state module:Choose Review > Overrides on the toolbar to open the Overrides dialog. The Overrides dialog lists all overridden fields in the current federal or state module, their values, and any related field notes. Click an item in the list to navigate to the screen containing the overridden field.

Adding field notes

  1. Click the field for which you want to add a note.
  2. Click the icon and select Add note. The Field Note dialog
  3. Enter up to 1000 characters for your field note and click Add to close and save the note.

A notebook will appear in the row to indicate that a note is present for that row of fields.

Editing or deleting field notes

There are two methods to edit or delete field notes.

If you know where a field note is located, perform the following steps.

  1. Select the button and tab that includes the note you want to edit or delete.
  2. Locate the row that includes the field note - a notebook signifies a note is present - and choose a field in that row.
  3. Select the cog icon and select Edit note.
  4. In the Edit field note dialog, you can change the text or select Delete button.
  5. Select Save to retain your changes.
If you do not know where a field note is located, or to view all field notes that are in the plan, perform the following steps.
  1. Select Review, then Notes.
  2. In the Review field notes dialog all field notes in the plan are listed in the top pane.
  3. Select a field note and edit the text in the bottom pane or select the Delete button.
  4. Select Save to retain your changes.
