Plan layouts

Plan layouts allow you to control what tax years will be included, how many alternatives you want to display, and what states will be included (if any). When adding a new plan, you can choose from the following three layout options or customize a plan to meet your specific needs.

View plan options

To change the way your plan is organized, take one of the following steps from within an open Advisory Planner project.

  • Select View plan, then By case to change the main data-entry window so that the open plan's information is organized first by case and then by the years within each case.
  • Select View plan, then By year to change the main data-entry window so that the open plan's information is organized first by year and then by the cases within each year.
  • Select View plan, then Current year only to hide all years except the current calendar year.
  • Select View plan, then Reveal hidden columns to unhide all hidden alternatives and years.
  • Select View plan, then Reverse order of years to switch the order in which the years are displayed, either left-to-right or right-to-left.

Editing an existing plan's layout

You can edit the general information for an existing plan, such as plan description, first plan year, number of years, number of cases, resident state, nonresident states, and specify whether the plan is a family plan or a single base year plan.

  1. Open the plan you want to edit.
  2. Choose Edit plan to open the Edit plan dialog.
  3. Make your edits and click Update.

Note: Part-year resident plans are not available.
