Advisory projects and templates overview

Advisory Projects

In Advisory, click Projects in the menu bar.

In Onvio, all client data is organized based on Projects. If you want to save information for a client, you must create a Project to establish the space needed to store that client information. Projects are digital folders similar to a physical folder where you would save your client’s documents and other work completed.

When you create a project, you must use a project template. With project templates, you can specify default information so you can quickly add projects for clients without duplicating data entry. For example, all Advisory Document projects might use the same settings for Status, Recurrence Frequency, Target Dates, Extension, and Document Storage. Setting those once in a project template streamlines the steps required to create new projects.

The settings available within a project template are generally related to the administrative management of the work, but the settings can also control the content that is displayed when new projects are added to a client. The Document Storage section at the bottom of a project template provides choices for project related to Onvio Advisory Documents.

  • Create a new folder
  • Create new folder from template: Automatically include the contents of the current Document Template in every project you add using this Project Template.

Advisory Documents Templates

In Advisory, click Setup > Advisory Documents templates in the menu bar.

There are two Advisory Documents Templates available to all Onvio Advisory firms.

  • Client Specific Documents: Includes a set of six empty folders that you can customize to meet the needs of your firm.
  • Practice Forward Content for Implementation: Includes 10 folders where you can find the PDF, Word, Excel, ZIP, and other content files from Practice Forward.

In Onvio Center, you can easily copy documents from the Practice Forward Content for Implementation template to the Client Specific Documents template. When you open Onvio Center > Setup > Folder Templates, the Onvio Advisory Documents templates are displayed for firms that are licensed for Onvio Advisory. Follow these steps to copy the Practice Forward content between templates.

  1. In Onvio Center, choose Setup > Folder Templates.
  2. Open the Practice Forward Content for Implementation template.
  3. Select the items that you want to copy.
  4. Click Manage > Copy in the menu bar.
  5. In the Copy to panel, navigate to the Client Specific Documents template.
  6. Click Copy.
