Set up permissions for Onvio Tax

Onvio Tax supports two methods for filing your client's financial information to HMRC. Data can be filed via the latest HMRC Making Tax Digital (MTD) process (which also enables quarterly reporting for Sole Trade and UK Property business types), or via the existing XML submission method. Appropriate permissions need to be allocated to the user(s) responsible for the submissions.

Set up Onvio Tax for MTD submissions as follows:

  1. From the Onvio Centre main menu select Setup.
  2. Either click on an existing group from the Permission Groups list, or click Add to create a new group.
  3. Enter a Name and Description for the group if you are creating a new group.
  4. Click on Permissions and select Tax from the left hand menu.
  5. Select Everything and click Show Details to expand all the permissions for Onvio Tax.
  6. Click Enable to Tax Returns, HMRC Authorisation, HMRC API Access and HMRC Submit Period Data.
  7. The above permission selection is required if you are just filing MTD submissions. If you are also filing XML submissions (ie also submitting the final declaration) you will need to Enable the HMRC Declaration as well.
  8. Click on Members and select the members that will be part of the submission group.
  9. Click Done.

Set up Onvio Tax for XML submissions as follows:

  1. Follow the first five steps above but at step 6 click Enable to Tax Returns and HMRC Declaration only.
  2. Click on Members and select the members that will be part of the submission group.
  3. Click Done.
